Bordeaux has the largest urban area classified by UNESCO with 347 monuments and also a modern contemporary architecture. Bordeaux is home to the largest vineyards in the world with 7000 châteaux, reception facilities in the famous “Grands Crus Classés” wine properties. In the heart of France’s main forested region, on the doorsteps of the Gironde estuary and less than an hour from the Atlantic Ocean, with the Arcachon Bay and the dune du Pyla, the highest sand dune in Europe.
Bordeaux has 7 convention and exhibition centres, amphitheatres from 200 to 1500 participants, up to 6000 in plenary room, 150000 sqm of exhibition space, 11000 bedrooms and 210 hotels, another 720 bedrooms for 2022.
With 11 competitiveness clusters and over 60 clusters of international importance, the region of Bordeaux is also home to 175000 students, including 100000 in Bordeaux, 10700 researchers and an international competitive Bordeaux research university (initiative of excellence label).
Bordeaux is easily accessible with an international airport, 110 direct destinations, and the train to Paris in 2 hours.
Bordeaux is committed, alongside all the city’s key tourism players, to the preservation of our shared environments. Whether it applies to transport, accommodation, or events, sustainability permeates all of the city’s tourism infrastructure. The city obtained ISO 20121 certification “International Sustainable Destination”.
